Article marketing has taken a beating in the past year or so, but we want to mention it for a reason. But first, be aware that some things have changed with this and the changes were major.
Some of the old ways of getting traffic with articles no longer holds water. Article syndication has always been around, and it is something you can still rely on with confidence. Syndication is powerful because essentially your articles can be picked up and used by marketers, and then the good part is your link will be in the resource box. Once you become familiar with things and have a clear idea, then write it down in the form of a plan. You can begin with a rough business plan draft that you can refine as you go along. You can make this part as informal or formal as you like, but the formal business plan is not necessary. You can promote affiliate products, your own that you make or CPA offers, for example. Most beginners go with affiliate marketing because some parts of it are done for you.
Continuing on with advertising options, in addition to banner ads you can use pay per click advertising, or commonly called PPC advertising. Those are PPC Adwords ads, and you can learn how to use that very effectively.
Bing and secondary search engines also have a PPC platform. If you like dealing with banners, you can use banners with Adwords and other sites such as Adbrite. There is more on the net than you can shake a stick at, and all you have to do is start looking for it.
As you can clearly see, the need to be comfortable with decision making is part of your responsibilities. People with experience know this already, but the new person to the net has to learn it. It is true that the best decisions are usually not wild assumptions about anything, and that piece of wisdom can serve you well. Marketers who are more astute with what they see are usually the ones who tend to do a bit better than the rest.
